A number of years ago I gave a talk in which I mentioned how a group of people from the area, Newbury, Berkshire, UK, moved to North America. The people included Rev. Thomas Parker and Rev. James Noyes. In 1634 they arrived in Ipswich (then known as Agawam) and later in 1635 moved along the Parker River (then known as Quascacunquen River) to land and settle at a location that would become their home. This became known as Newbury, after Newbury, Berkshire, UK.
After that I started researching the connections of the names Thatcham and Newbury with similar around the world, I did post about this some time ago. It could be a settlement, a road name, a place name, a family name, etc. Some have a connection back, others are not connected. To start with I decided to attempt to research the history of the settlements I could find for Newbury and identify if they had/have a connection with Newbury Berkshire. First task is to update previous lists and map out the possible names to research.
